During the same week, Minister Martin Coiteux tabled a bill in the National Assembly redefining relations between the Government of Québec and municipalities, as well as a bill proposing that Montréal be given its unique status as a metropolis.
Given the city of Montréal’s highly strategic contribution for the entirety of Québec, the government wants to give the city all of the tools it needs to fully assert itself on the social, cultural, and economic levels. In order to do so, various measures centred on three themes have been proposed: developing Montréal, living in Montréal, and deciding in Montréal. The minister will provide details of these aspects during this business luncheon.
