The Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal and Propulsion Québec, the cluster for electric and smart transportation, are pleased to present this study on the regulation of electric and smart transportation.
The future of mobility depends on connected, autonomous, shared and electric vehicles. The study shows that Quebec has the assets it needs to distinguish itself in these niches. Our success depends on an agile regulatory framework, appropriate financing and ambitious public policy. This study is meant to fuel the essential reflection that will enable Quebec and Montréal to distinguish themselves in this economic sector of the future.
The study has four main chapters:
1- A diagnosis of Quebec’s regulatory framework;
2- A benchmark of international best practices based on an analysis of ten territories;
3- A summary of success factors drawn from international benchmarking;
4- Avenues for recommendations for Quebec and Greater Montréal, structured around three strategic areas:
- Strategic focus 1: Increase the offer of electric and smart mobility products and services developed in Quebec
- Strategic focus 2: Increase demand for electric and smart transportation
- Strategic focus 3: Ensure the growth of the transportation industry by optimizing and coordinating government strategies
This study has been conducted with the support of the Government of Quebec, in partnership with Hydro-Québec and SNC-Lavalin and in cooperation with Bombardier Transportation and Keolis Canada.
