The inaugural address: The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal
welcomes the recognition granted Montreal
Montreal, May 9, 2007 The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal enthusiastically welcomes the commitment made in his inaugural speech by Premier Jean Charest to support our metropolis so that it may diversify its revenue sources and better assume its crucial role as the economic engine of Quebec, declared Isabelle Hudon, president and CEO of the Board of Trade.
For the Board of Trade, this is refreshing and encouraging recognition of the key role played by Montreal and, above all, indication of a sincere desire to give the metropolis the tools it needs to fully play that role. We are convinced that access to diversified revenue sources reflecting the economic growth it generates within its territory will enable Montreal to contribute even more actively to achieving the ambitions of Quebec and promoting its growth, added Hudon.
The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal has some 7,000 members. Its mission is to represent the interests of the business community of Greater Montreal and to provide individuals, merchants and businesses of all sizes with a variety of specialized services to help them achieve their full potential in terms of innovation, productivity and competitiveness. The Board of Trade is the largest private organization in Quebec dedicated to economic development.
