The Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal’s Nutcracker Market:

Montréal, September 29, 2010 –The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal is pleased to announce that its President and CEO, Michel Leblanc, is acting as patron of the Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal’s Nutcracker Market, running from November 25 to December 5.
“I salute the initiative of the Grands Ballets in starting this new holiday tradition,” Michel Leblanc said. “A city that enjoys a healthy culture and institutions has a duty to create business opportunities that benefit everyone.”
“This is a great initiative with many positive effects,” Mr. Leblanc said at the press conference to launch the Nutcracker Market. “First of all, this market is an opportunity for ballet lovers to come meet craftspeople and merchants who are inspired by the Nutcracker. From a recreational point of view, it will contribute to the quality of life of Montrealers, because it’s a fantastic activity for the family and an opportunity to start soaking up some holiday spirit. And finally, the market is an example of a tool for financing cultural institutions and promoting their contribution to the city.”
“In addition to generating immediate economic benefits, the Nutcracker Market helps strengthen what Montréal has to offer and increase tourism during this period,” Michel Leblanc said. “I encourage Montrealers and businesses to get the word out to help make this event a success.”
