The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal announces
the names of the four Great Montrealers of 2008:
Rémi Marcoux, Denise Robert, Heather Munroe-Blum, and Peter Howlett
Montréal, August 28, 2008 The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal is proud to announce the names of four new Great Montrealers who will be honoured at a ceremony at the Centre d'archives de Montréal on October 29.
This year's Great Montrealers are: in the Economic Sector, Rémi Marcoux, Executive Chairman of the Board, Transcontinental Inc.; in the Cultural Sector, Denise Robert, President and Producer, Cinémaginaire; in the Scientific Sector, Heather Munroe-Blum, Principal and Vice-Chancellor, McGill University; and in the Social Sector, Peter Howlett, President, Portage.
The Board of Trade is proud to honour four exceptional personalities who have changed the face of their respective spheres of activity while leaving their mark on our city's history. Montréal and the whole of Quebec are privileged to have such passionate and talented individuals who contribute to our community's evolution while justly representing us beyond our borders. They are certainly influential and inspiring role models, not only for the new generation, but also for the entire Montréal community, stated Isabelle Hudon, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal.
Since 1978, 106 personalities have been honoured including the four selected this year together forming today The Academy of Great Montrealers created by the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal in 1988. The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal has some 7,000 members.
