The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal congratulates Pfizer Canada
on its commitment to developing the life sciences sector in Montréal
Montréal, November 10, 2010 – The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal applauds Pfizer Canada’s decision to invest $22 million in major construction work at its head office in Kirkland. It considers this investment confirmation of the Montréal life sciences cluster’s importance on the international scene.
“The future of the life sciences sector is of strategic importance to the development of the Montreal economy,” said Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade. “Pfizer is one of the world leaders in the biopharmaceutical sector, and we want to congratulate the company on its commitment to developing this sector that is so important to Montréal and Quebec, where the conditions for the research and development of new drugs are the best in the country.”
“We welcome the decision even more enthusiastically on account of the fact that we need to encourage head offices to stay in Montréal or to relocate here,” Mr. Leblanc said. “Having head offices here helps keep talent in the region along with many strategic, high quality jobs. We invite other large corporations in the region to reaffirm their commitment to the development of the city and the province.”
