The 2011 MONTRÉAL F1RST campaign celebrates
the ingenuity of Montréal businesses
Montréal, March 23, 2011 – The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal and its five pillar sponsors – Astral Media, Bell Canada, Hydro-Québec, Desjardins Group, and Rio Tinto Alcan – today launch the second MONTRÉAL F1RST campaign, showcasing the creative genius of businesses in the metropolitan region.
“Through this initiative, we are recognizing Montréal businesses whose spirit of innovation allows our city to spread its influence around the globe. We are very proud to highlight their talent, their originality, and their ability to go beyond the limits of what has been done before,” stated Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal.
“The innovations we see on the Montréal F1rst Website, and the keen interest aroused in the first phase of the campaign, demonstrate the extent to which Montréal is a city of creators and how much our businesses make it more dynamic and alive,” continued Michel Leblanc.
The “world firsts” that will be promoted all across Montréal over the coming weeks—via a campaign that includes roadside posters, screens at Montréal-Trudeau airport, a radio ad broadcast on the Astral network, and social media presence—are the following:
- F1rst metropolis to develop a synthetic vaccine.
- F1rst metropolis to build homes with no nails or cutting required.
- F1rst metropolis to decontaminate with soy milk.
- F1rst metropolis to create an interactive telescope.
- F1rst metropolis to create an electronic nose for odour monitoring.
“This campaign is being made possible with the close collaboration of our five pillar sponsors. Deeply committed to seeing our metropolis excel and distinguish itself, they have chosen to join the Board of Trade in promoting MONTRÉAL F1RST, and we thank them for doing so,” concluded Michel Leblanc.
