Quebec small businesses meet three giants from the United Arab Emirates
Montréal, July 13, 2010 – The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal’s team of international trade experts, the World Trade Centre Montréal, is pleased to offer Quebec small businesses the chance to meet three important buyers from the United Arab Emirates.
“Our team of experts from the World Trade Centre Montréal has spent three years exploring the Middle East market by organizing seminars on business opportunities and trade missions,” said Michel Leblanc, president and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal and the World Trade Centre Montréal. “Today, for the first time, we’re hosting major companies from the Middle East, giving more Quebec small businesses the chance to establish business ties with giants such as Aldar Properties PJSC, Masdar Clean Tech Fund and Danube Building Materials. These small businesses, which operate in the construction, environment, energy, engineering and high-tech sectors, will establish a first contact with these major players in the Emirates market.”
“The United Arab Emirates has over US$800 billion in construction projects ongoing and announced,” said Mr. Leblanc. “The company Masdar alone has a fund of US$500 million to invest in clean technology. Today’s event will offer very interesting opportunities for the hundred anticipated participants. They’ll have a chance to showcase their expertise and lay the groundwork for future agreements.”
The day’s agenda includes a seminar on business practices in the United Arab Emirates, an overview of the opportunities available in this market and through each of the buyers in attendance, as well as one-on-one meetings with buyers.
The World Trade Centre Montréal and the Middle East Trade Development Agency are co-hosting the buyers, in cooperation with Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada, Export Development Canada, Fraser Milner Casgrain, the Ministère du Développement économique, de l’Innovation et de l’Exportation and CMHC International.
The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal—through its experts at the World Trade Centre Montréal, and with the support of Canada Economic Development—offers international trade services to the greater business community.
