The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal presents the twelve winners of the 2003 Outstanding Student Awards
Montreal, May 13, 2003 - Twelve Secondary V and vocational education students from metropolitan Montreal school boards and private educational institutions today received an Outstanding Student Award 2003 from the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal. The awards were presented during a business luncheon at which Heather Munroe-Blum, principal and vice-chancellor of McGill University, was guest speaker.
The prosperity of Greater Montreal depends on the quality of the training of all its human resources. We must never forget that these students are the future of our economy, and its development and influence are based on knowledge, declared Benoit Labonté, president of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal.
For the past twenty-one years, the Board of Trade has organized an annual Outstanding Student Award competition to acknowledge the excellence of our young people in the following four categories: Arts, Social Sciences/Languages, Science/Mathematics, and Vocational Education.
I would like to congratulate the winners as well as the 73 finalists in the 21st edition of this annual competition. These young people have demonstrated competencies and creativity, and their talent reflects well on the family members and teachers who have trained them. They are fine representatives of the next generation, added Mr. Labonté.

The gold, silver, and bronze medallists received a gold, silver, or bronze plaque, as well as scholarships of $1,000, $700, and $300 respectively. This competition highlights the academic achievements, personal attributes and team spirit of our future executives, entrepreneurs, specialists and technicians.

The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal has more than 7,000 members. Its mission is to be the leading group representing the interests of the Greater Montreal business community.
