ISABELLE HUDON NAMED ONE OF THE 100 MOST
POWERFUL WOMEN IN CANADA
Montreal, November 21, 2006 Isabelle Hudon, president and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal, has just been recognized as one of the country's most influential women, taking her place among the trailblazers and trendsetters on the 2006 list of Canada's Most Powerful Women: Top 100. This honour is conferred by the Women's Executive Network (WXN), which compiles an annual list of women who have made their mark in various categories.
I am delighted by the honour conferred on Isabelle Hudon today, since it pays homage to her outstanding leadership qualities. Isabelle is a committed leader, who gives 100% to whatever she undertakes a woman of conviction, who, first and foremost, places her energy, her expertise, and her vision at the service of Montreal and its community. Whether at the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal or on the boards of directors of various organizations, she generates the momentum needed to make things happen, demonstrating not only boldness but also great determination in everything she does, declared Elliot Lifson, chairman of the board of directors of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal and vice-chairman of Vêtements Peerless Clothing Inc.
The Board of Trade's board of directors is proud of this prestigious recognition, which delights all who work under her direction. After Canada's Top 40 Under 40 in 2005, this new honour demonstrates that Isabelle Hudon is a woman whose influence extends far beyond our metropolis. Her greatest talent is the ability to motivate stakeholders to take action, whether the objective is of an economic, social, or cultural nature. Her influence is felt daily through significant actions and initiatives supporting entrepreneurship, developing new ways to finance culture, recognizing the central role of our institutions of higher education, and implementing mechanisms promoting the integration of new immigrants, to name just a few. Our business community may be the first to benefit from her expertise and tenacity, but the spin-offs from her actions are just as positive for the entire Greater Montreal community, continued Lifson.
Isabelle Hudon is the first woman to hold the position of president and CEO of the Board of Trade since the creation, almost two centuries ago, of this organization representing the interests of the Montreal business community. Since her arrival, she has served as Communications director; vice-president, Strategies and Communications; and then executive vice-president. Ms. Hudon began her professional career in federal politics, where she worked in various ministries, including the office of Minister Monique Landry. She then moved to the private sector where she made her mark in the fields of public relations, communications, and strategic positioning particularly at Bell Global Solutions, the Canadian Space Agency, Bombardier Aerospace, and BCE Media. She sits on several boards of directors and chairs those of the Société du Havre de Montréal and the Fondation Les Petits Trésors.
The Women's Executive Network (WXN) is Canada's most influential female audience and the country's leading organization dedicated to the advancement and recognition of executive-minded women in the workplace.
The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal has some 7,000 members.
