G-20 meeting to be held in Montreal: Good news for the Montreal area economy and international standing

Montreal, April 5, 2000 "The next meeting of the G-20 Finance Ministers will be held in Montreal in the Fall of 2000 and this is good news for the economy and the international standing of the metropolitan area," said today Mr. Pierre Laferrière, the president of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal.
"The announcement made by Canada's Finance Minister Paul Martin shows recognition of Montreal's economic weight, a New Economy city that is slated to experience tremendous growth over the next years," added Mr. Laferrière.
"Also, concluded the Board's President, this meeting will bring hundreds of delegates and world media representatives to the Montreal region, and this provides not only valuable economic impact, but it is a great way to promote Montreal at both the economic and tourism levels."
