Montréal F1rst 2012: Let’s celebrate the genius of homegrown businesses
Montréal, March 5, 2012 – Today, the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal and its five pillar sponsors – Astral, Bell, Hydro-Québec, Desjardins Group and Rio Tinto Alcan – kick off the third edition of the Montréal F1rst campaign.
“We were especially drawn to the international ‘firsts’ selected this year because – beyond their creative excellence – they represented tangible answers to social and human concerns experienced both here and elsewhere,” said Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal President and CEO Michel Leblanc.
Five local businesses are therefore showcased as part of this campaign. Innovations from the health, life sciences, engineering, and culture and entertainment industries will take centre stage.
- F1rst metropolis where a robotic arm can transform your daily life
- F1rst metropolis where a camera captures a nearly-photon-calibrated image
- F1rst metropolis where physical training can characterize concussions
- F1rst metropolis where your exploits are frame-by-framed on a single image
- F1rst metropolis where your eardrum can be repaired in 20 minutes
“Since the launch of Montréal F1rst, more than 65 businesses have submitted their innovations on our interactive website. Our community can be proud of being home to talented businesses that push the envelope and, as a result, contribute to our city’s renown,” Michel Leblanc added.
“The objective in implementing the Montréal F1rst initiative was to celebrate the ingenuity of our businesses, and position them as key actors of our creative assets. These international firsts each provide for making our metropolis shine internationally in their own way. We are pleased to bring to light the boldness and know-how that allow our city to prosper and lend it its distinctive personality,” the President and CEO stated.
“The Montréal F1rst campaign has enabled us to pay tribute to the businesses that energize our metropolis for the past three years thanks to the ongoing support of our five pillar sponsors. We hope that Montrealers and the people who will be visiting our city over these next few months alike will join us to celebrate this tremendous talent,” Mr. Leblanc concluded.
