Métro cars: the Government responds
Montréal, October 5, 2010 – The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal is very pleased that the government responded to the business community’s urgent call to action concerning replacement of the city’s métro cars. “Now that the contract has been awarded, we can expect to see the new cars within two years, which is very good news,” said Board of Trade President and CEO Michel Leblanc.
“These are unusual circumstances and the government did what it had to do. The National Assembly now has to enact special legislation that should not delay the beginning of work. The saga of the métro car replacement will then finally come to an end,” added Mr. Leblanc.
The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal is made up of some 7,000 members. Its mission is to represent the interests of the business community of Greater Montréal and to provide individuals, merchants, and local businesses of all sizes with a variety of specialized services to help them achieve their full potential in terms of innovation, productivity and competitiveness. The Board of Trade is Quebec's leading private economic development organization.
