Montréal, July 5, 2013 – Following erroneous comments that appeared in certain media outlets, the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal would like to reiterate that it will remain neutral throughout the municipal electoral campaign.
“Let there be no mistake about it,” says Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal. “The Board of Trade has not taken a position in favour of or against any candidate for Montréal mayor.”
“Choosing a new mayor is obviously up to citizens,” Mr. Leblanc says. “The Board of Trade’s role is to generate debate around issues it considers a priority for the city’s future. The upcoming municipal elections are crucial, and we intend to engage candidates in discussions about critical issues for the economic development of Montréal.”
Priority issues for the business community
- The business environment
- Governance
- Transportation and major projects
