Luc Sabbatini appointed Chairman of the board of directors of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal for 2012-2013
Montréal, October 24, 2012 - The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal held its annual meeting today, during which members elected the board of directors for 2012-2013, naming Luc Sabbatini, president of Astral Outdoor, Chairman of the board for the coming year. Mr. Sabbatini, who was Vice-Chairman this past year, takes over from Andrew T. Molson, Chairman of Molson Coors Brewing Company.
“I am proud to accept the chairmanship of the Board of Trade for 2012-2013,” said Mr. Sabbatini, new Chairman of the board of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal. “I am taking up the torch from a long line of leaders who have headed up the organization, which, through its 190-year history, has evolved and carved out an important place for itself in the Greater Montréal area. Given the current world economic situation, members of the business community need to join forces now more than ever, and I am determined to continue to improve the city’s business conditions and extend its reach.”
Luc Sabbatini has been President of Astral Outdoor since 2007, a Canadian leader in its industry due to a culture of innovation and creativity. Astral Outdoor has made its mark for its street furniture and its Digital Network.
A well-known figure on the Montréal business scene, Mr. Sabbatini has solid, wide-ranging experience in the Canadian communication sector, where he has held a variety of executive positions in radio, television and now in out-of-home advertising. He is a member of Astral Media’s management committee, having joined the company in 2000.
Mr. Sabbatini is very active in his industry and has been a board member for a variety of organizations in the Canadian communications sector. He is involved in the community, particularly the cause of sick children, and was the president of the Tremblant 24h Foundation for a number of years and remains a board member.
Mr. Sabbatini holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from HEC Montréal and is a graduate of Harvard University’s Advanced Management Program. In 2004, his name appeared in the prestigious Top 40 Under 40 ranking, which recognizes excellence in top-performing young executives in Canada.
As Chairman, Mr. Sabbatini will be involved in Board of Trade activities during 2012-2013, and again as retiring chair of the board the following year. Throughout, he will also sit on the Board of Trade’s executive committee.
