Montréal, September 16, 2014 – The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal and its team of international trade experts, the World Trade Centre Montréal, are delighted by the renewal of the agreement with Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED), which has confirmed funding of $2,779,239 over three years for the business support program.
“For the past 30 years, our experts have been helping SMEs in the city and the province become more competitive on global markets,” said Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal and the World Trade Centre Montréal. “They guide them through many stages in their development and point them toward the markets with the greatest potential.”
“Canada’s trade objective is to ensure that 50% of exporting Canadian SMEs have a presence in emerging markets by 2018,” Michel Leblanc said. “The Board of Trade has long been working on diversifying our export markets, and future activities will continue in that direction.”
“Since 1998, the close collaboration between our two organizations has made it possible to support over 17,000 entrepreneurs in their growth on foreign markets, particularly through training and trade missions.”
“The World Trade Centre Montréal, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, has become an essential actor for Quebec SMEs that want to get involved in exporting,” Mr. Leblanc said. “The agreement with the CED, which runs from 2014 to 2017, will give us the chance to continue offering Quebec entrepreneurs activities that are essential to their growth and their international business efforts.”
