Composition of the new Cabinet:
A seasoned team to tackle major challenges
Montréal, December 18, 2008 The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal congratulates the members ofthe new Cabinet appointed today by Jean Charest, premier of Quebec.
Given the significanteconomic challenges we will face over the coming months, the success of Quebec and its metropolis will nodoubt be influenced by the leadership and unifying spirit with which the Quebec government exercises itsresponsibilities. We would thus like to wish every success to the ministersappointed today and assure them of our commitment to supporting the economicgrowth of Montréal and Quebec, declared RogerPlamondon, acting president and CEO of the Board of Trade of MetropolitanMontreal.
We believe that ifMontréal and Quebec focus on the priorityissues of talent, entrepreneurship, and the intensive renewal ofinfrastructure, we will come through the expected period of economic turbulencewith an even stronger economy, propelled by the vitality and creativity of ourmetropolis, added Plamondon.
The Board of Trade wouldalso like to highlight the representative character of the Quebec Government'snew Cabinet. We congratulate thepremier on forming a Cabinet reflecting both the diversity and thecomplementarity of the Quebec population. We believethis Cabinet will ensure that the interests of Quebec, and those of its economicengine, Montréal, will be represented in a fair and balanced way. We are confidentthat, with all its skills and experience, this team can mobilize the leadinglights of both the metropolis and the province to contribute to the economicrecovery, concluded Plamondon.
