Montréal, November 16, 2016 – The Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal is pleased to announce a series of agreements entered into during its trade mission to Israel and the West Bank, led jointly by Montréal Mayor Denis Coderre, and Toronto Mayor John Tory. The 11 agreements were signed between city businesses and institutions and Israeli partners in industries such as cybersecurity, clean tech, digital technology and higher education.
“These agreements demonstrate the know-how of Montréal businesses that are making headway in one of the most innovative markets in the world,” said Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal. “The partnerships will allow local companies to showcase their expertise and products in a market that is ripe with business opportunities. Israel is a centre of innovation and cutting-edge technology, making it a top partner. The Chamber’s second trade mission to Israel and the West Bank is part of a longer-term effort to build solid ties between Montréal and the region.”

Economic agreements
Transfer of Tefron’s North American head office to Montréal
Quebec company LAMOUR and Israeli company Tefron have signed an agreement to transfer Tefron’s North American head office to Montréal. Tefron is a world-leading manufacturer of sports clothing.
Distribution agreement between Mirades and GamaSec
Quebec company Mirades and Israeli technology firm GamaSec entered into a distribution agreement to protect websites against cybernetic attacks. Mirades will promote the cybersecurity solutions GamaShield and GamaCyber in Quebec and Canada.
Extension of the SCADAfence lab in Montréal
Quebec company PM SCADA Cybersecurity and Israeli company SCADAfence are partnering to extend the SCADAfence lab to Montréal. SCADAfence offers cybersecurity solutions to ensure the operational continuity of industrial networks.
Partnership between Renewz and Inbar Solar Energy
Quebec company Renewz and Israeli company Inbar Solar Energy, a leader in solar energy, are joining forces to distribute and install products in Israel. Renewz has also announced the launch of its new iSun platform in Israel.
Partnership between Renewz and Driivz
Quebec company Renewz and Israeli company Driivz entered into an agreement to work jointly on energy management platforms for electric vehicle charging.
University agreements
HEC Montréal and COMAS Israel launch a virtual incubator
HEC Montréal and Israel’s College of Management Academic Studies (COMAS) are pooling their expertise to create a virtual incubator called IQbator. It will allow entrepreneurs from three Montréal schools (Université de Montréal, HEC Montréal and Polytechnique Montréal) and from the COMAS to turn their ideas into concrete business ventures.
Three academic cooperation agreements for Concordia University
Concordia University and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem signed an agreement to promote student exchanges. Concordia University and Tel Aviv University also entered into an agreement to increase the mobility of students and researchers in neuroscience, the humanities and management. A third agreement promotes exchanges between researchers at the Azrieli Institute (Concordia University) and the Center for Israel Studies (Ben-Gurion University of the Negev).
Cooperative agreement between Université de Montréal and Tel Aviv University
This agreement will increase cooperation in research between the two universities. In the short term, it will encourage the movement of academics and researchers between the two universities. It will also create synergy between the schools’ research centres.
Tourism agreements
Tripartite agreement for Tourisme Montréal
Tourisme Montréal, the Israel Government Tourist Officeand Jerusalem Conventions & Visitors Bureausigned two protocols to promote exchanges and joint tourism initiatives.
