and the Shanghai Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower Co. Ltd.
Montréal, May 13, 2010 – The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montrealis proud to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Montréal company gsmprjct° technologie and the Shanghai Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower Co. Ltd., the result of a trade mission organized by the Board of Trade’s team of international trade experts, the World Trade Centre Montréal, and led by the Mayor of Montréal, Mr. Gérald Tremblay. Over thirty companies and institutions are taking part in this mission.
gsmprjct° technologie and the Shanghai Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower Co. Ltd. have just signed an agreement for the installation of electronic telescopes in the famous Oriental Pearl Tower, a television and observation tower that defines the urban landscape of the city of Shanghai, climbing to a height of 468 metres. This tower, one of the tallest in the world and an iconic symbol of the city of Shanghai, is interspersed with observation decks allowing more than three million visitors per year to enjoy unobstructed views of downtown Shanghai.
“We are delighted to see that in the wake of the great visibility gsmprjct° has enjoyed with its design of Espace Montréal at Expo 2010 Shanghai, the company will now be installing its interactive telescopes in one of the world’s most prestigious towers. This success bears witness to the extraordinary potential of our innovative companies, even on the most competitive foreign markets,” stated the President and CEO of the Board of Trade, Michel Leblanc.
“This agreement demonstrates the visionary spirit of the partnership we have built with Shanghai over the past twenty-five years. Now, telescopes designed and built in Montréal will be used by the millions of visitors who, each year, come to discover one of the most dynamic cities in the world. It is through our talent, highly qualified labour, and extraordinary creative people that we can succeed in standing out abroad in this way,” declared the Mayor of Montréal, Gérald Tremblay.
“This agreement offers us an incredible international showcase that will serve as a springboard for the development of gsmprjct°. Once again, Montréal expertise and innovation are shining brightly,” stated the President of gsmprjct° technologie, Vincent Brie.
Montréal company gsmprjct° specializes in the design and production of thematic installations and high-end exhibitions for museums. The company designed Espace Montréal, now open at the world Expo, which offers visitors the opportunity to discover the Saint-Michel Environmental Complex. Its BeholdTM interactive telescope is a device that replaces traditional coin-operated telescopes in the world’s skyscrapers and towers. By aiming the telescope at buildings and points of interest visible on the horizon, users can obtain a wealth of information with the simple touch of a finger.
