From April 22 to 27, the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal and Investissement Québec accompanied 21 Québec businesses on a trade mission to the Hannover Messe trade show in Germany. A look back on a rewarding trade mission.
Hannover Messe is the largest industrial trade show in the world. This year, it attracted over 200,000 participants from around the world to present the latest innovations in industrial technology. Québec companies were among them.
Give local innovation international visibility
Manufacturing is a major sector in Germany. Manufacturers have understood the importance of making the shift to 4.0 to ensure their growth, and 75% of them are making massive investments to do so.
The Québec economy is also manufacturing based: close to 90% of our exports are in this sector. Yet, unlike German businesses, only 25% of local companies invest in technology 4.0. The goal of the trade mission to Germany, which was part of the second edition of Investissement Québec’s Innovative Manufacturer initiative, was to help local businesses understand the importance of this shift, encourage them to invest more in digital technology and give them a chance to draw inspiration from best practices.
The Hannover Messe trade show was also a great opportunity for local businesses to showcase their know-how, their 4.0 solutions and their innovations:
"Participants in the trade show expressed genuine respect for our innovations, and it was a beneficial experience for local companies."
