Adjustments to the student financial aid program: A wise decision
Montréal, June 28, 2007 – The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal welcomes the adjustments to the student financial aid program announced today by Michelle Courchesne, Minister for Education, Recreation, and Sport and Minister for Family.
“While the Board of Trade has argued for some time in favour of the unfreezing of tuition fees, it has always stressed the need to adjust the financial aid program accordingly to ensure that a university education remains accessible to all young Quebecers. With this announcement, the Minister has acted in a responsible and coherent manner,” declared Isabelle Hudon, president and CEO of the Board of Trade.
The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal has some 7,000 members. Its primary mission is to represent the interests of the business community of the Greater Montreal and to provide individuals, merchants, and local businesses of all sizes with a variety of specialized services to help them achieve their full potential in terms of innovation, productivity and competitiveness. The Board of Trade is Quebec's leading private economic development organization.
