The Chamber kicks off the ·CRÉATIONMTL spring program

Montréal, April 4, 2022 ‒ The Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal is proud to kick off five new art installations, sensory experiences and fun activities in downtown Montréal. Launched by the Chamber and supported by the Ministère de l’Économie et de l’Innovation as part of the “I love working downtown” initiative, the activities entice colleagues, friends and partners to enjoy time together during a break in their workday.

The Chamber has been deploying actions since March 2021 to encourage the return of workers to the downtown core and enhance the area’s attractiveness. It was in this context that the Chamber invited local creators, originators and designers to enhance spaces frequented by workers, in collaboration with downtown property owners. Further to this appeal, the Chamber announced funding for eight creative “·CRÉATIONMTL” signature projects, including the Generations of Greatness mural, unveiled last fall at the Cour Rio Tinto.

Today, the Chamber is pleased to announce the launch of five new projects designed specifically to attract workers to the downtown core. To create a lasting impact on the city, each installation will be accessible for a minimum of three months. This superb array of projects will be deployed today in several private and semi-private locations downtown. Two other initiatives will follow in the near future: the NRML BSKT basketball court, designed by Harrison Fun, and the Animation and art installation project at Place Ville Marie, designed by Ivanhoé Cambridge.

“With workers returning to downtown, we have an opportunity to rethink how we do things as we reclaim these spaces. Let’s make downtown a fun place to be for the workers who are there every day, so that returning to the office isn’t just going back to the way things were. I invite downtown workers to give themselves a break from the daily routine by rediscovering the rich, diverse and dynamic offerings of the downtown area thanks to these original and captivating creative activities,” said Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal.

“One positive effect of the pandemic is that it has boosted the mobilization and creativity of stakeholders in downtown Montréal. With the launch of the ·CRÉATIONMTL projects, we’re witnessing a wonderful coming together of the artistic community and the business community, to the benefit of our city’s socio-economic vitality. The workers will be the first to enjoy these new and inviting installations and activities. I encourage them to take part in large numbers and to rediscover the pleasure of being downtown in the company of colleagues and friends,” said Chantal Rouleau, Minister for Transport and Minister Responsible for the Metropolis and the Montréal Region.
