Montréal, November 3, 2015 – The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal is pleased to announce an initial series of agreements struck during a trade mission to China led by Montréal Mayor, Denis Coderre. In total, nine agreements were signed between the city’s businesses and institutions and Chinese partners.
“These agreements demonstrate the increased presence of Greater Montréal businesses and institutions on the Chinese market,” said Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal. “Having the Mayor on hand and having the largest delegation of business people ever assembled by the Board of Trade shows Chinese partners that we want to move business relations forward. This is in addition to the new direct flight between Montréal and Beijing, which creates an even greater impetus to strengthen ties between the two business communities. Other agreements may be concluded in the coming months thanks to new relationships between the city’s businesses and potential Chinese partners.”
“Initial results from this trade mission speak volumes about China’s interest in our city,” said Denis Coderre, Mayor of Montréal. “Our city has a great deal to offer, and the Chinese market presents incredible opportunities for growth. This trade mission is part of a long-term effort to establish and maintain strong ties between Montréal and China. Montréal will be pleased to host a Chinese delegation in 2017, for Montréal’s 375th anniversary.”
