Montréal, October 29, 2015 – The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal is delighted with the $140 million investment announced today by Ivanhoé Cambridge, which will restore Fairmont the Queen Elizabeth’s position as a leading business destination. This investment demonstrates the confidence of investors, and the partnership with Sid Lee shows the spirit of innovation and creativity that fuels our city.
“This is an inspiring private investment against the backdrop of Montréal’s 375th anniversary,” said Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal. “This project, which includes an updated business centre concept, will enhance our city’s image as a destination for business events. We encourage other companies to follow suit and invest now in renewing their customer experience to be ready for the celebrations in 2017.”
“This partnership highlights the involvement of one of the flagships of the real estate sector, Ivanhoé Cambridge, in developing and revitalizing downtown Montréal,” Mr. Leblanc said. “We are also pleased with the involvement of a Montréal leader in the creative industries, Sid Lee, to help make the hotel a unique, multifunctional destination.”
