Montréal, September 9, 2015 – The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal is delighted with the announcement made today by Air Canada about a new flight between Montréal and Casablanca. This route is the latest in a series of positive announcements for the business community and the city’s air service.
“This new Air Canada destination strengthens Montréal’s position as an air travel hub between North America and the French-speaking countries of Europe and Africa,” said Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal. “The fact that the company has already announced its intention to turn this seasonal flight into year-round service demonstrates interest in the African market, which offers tremendous potential for economic growth in the coming years.”
“The business community is fortunate that air service has improved considerably this year,” Michel Leblanc said. “In addition to today’s announcement, flights to Beijing, Lyon, Reykjavik and Budapest were announced this year. This is great news for the Board of Trade which, with its partners Aéroports de Montréal, Tourisme Montréal and Montréal International, formed a joint task force on direct flights in November 2014 as part of I see mtl.”
