Elmar Mock
For Elmar Mock, it’s not about innovation, but about taking action. As a professional inventor, he knows that it’s not just about aptitude; it’s about attitude. Innovators have to work on staying creative; developing a revolutionary innovation is extremely difficult, but repeating the feat is even more so.
By the numbers:
- In the ‘80s, he revolutionized the manufacturing process by co-inventing the Swatch watch. (Swatch watches only require 51 pieces, as opposed to double that number for classic watches, which reduces costs.)
- In 1986, he created his own company, Creaholic, where he is currently the honorary president. Creaholic specializes in innovation in many fields (science, design, engineering, electronics, economy, etc.). Its team of experts works on a large range of products and steps in at different stages of the innovation process, from idea to implementation (exploration, conceptualization, design, manufacturing, tests, refinement and sales).
- In 2017, he was named a European Inventor Award 2017 finalist in the “lifetime achievement” category.
- Elmar Mock is a member of the jury for the European Patent Office’s award ceremony, which will be held in Vienna this year.
