Join us on Friday, February 26 at noon for a virtual talk on the manufacturing sector’s potential contribution to Greater Montréal’s recovery.
The pandemic has shaken the entire Quebec economy and caused major upheavals in the manufacturing sector.
This made us aware of our vulnerability, especially in essential goods, but also of the importance of improving competitiveness and accelerating the growth of local businesses through productivity and innovation.
This virtual talk is a unique opportunity to take stock of the impact of the pandemic on the manufacturing sector, and to discuss specific topics related to this area of the economy, including the automation of the sector and the qualifications of the workforce.
Program:
12:00 p.m.: Opening remarks by Michel Leblanc, President and CEO, Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal
12:05 p.m.: Introduction by Véronique Proulx, President and CEO, Manufacturiers et Exportateurs du Québec
12:10 p.m.: Panel discussion led by Sylvie Pinsonnault, Senior Vice-President, Business Strategies and Solutions, Investissement Québec

Description of the workshop:
In an uncertain economic and public health climate, companies in the manufacturing sector have had to respond to issues affecting their entire value chain. Over the past several months, manufacturers have been forced to rethink the way they work in order to comply with public health protocols. They have also had to overcome challenges to make their operations more resilient, which are issues worth addressing.
This workshop will focus on the following topics:
- Industry 4.0 in the context of a green recovery and an ecological transition
- The resilience of business models
- The challenges associated with implementing public health protocols and related human resource strategies
- Changes in procurement strategies
- The opportunities and challenges presented by the “Made in Montréal” movement
