Background
The 11 Relaunch MTL action plans confirmed the importance of the workforce for the recovery: The pandemic has forced a transition to telework and resulted in layoffs across all sectors. The accelerating need for digitalization exacerbates the issue of shortages of professionals in technology-related sectors.
Large infrastructure investments, while essential to the recovery, may aggravate several sectors.
To succeed in its recovery, Montréal will have to rely even more on workers. In each sector, organizations will face challenges with hiring and retaining workers and matching skills with supply.
Join us on Monday, April 19 at noon for a virtual talk on the importance of labour for the recovery of Greater Montréal.
In the presence of Jean Boulet, Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Solidarity, Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Chamber and Audrey Murray, President of the Conseil emploi métropole (CEM) and of the Commission des partenaires du marché du travail (CPMT), will discuss important topics related to the current labour market situation. You will learn more about :
- The specifics of the employment situation in Montréal
- The CEM's consultation and mobilization role on employment issues
- The actions to be implemented to address employment challenges in the city
- The results of the survey conducted among metropolitan businesses on their labour issues
- The urgency of upgrading skills and retraining the workforce to prepare for economic recovery
