Montréal, June 2, 2015 – The Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal extends its sincere condolences to the family and friends of Jacques Parizeau following the announcement of his death.
“The business community is grieving a great builder of the Québec state,” said President and CEO of the Board of Trade, Michel Leblanc. “A visionary statesman and outstanding economist, Mr. Parizeau played a decisive role in creating the pillars of our modern economy, including the Régie des rentes du Québec, the Société générale de financement, the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec and the Stock Savings Plan.”
“Through his tremendous determination and ambition for the economic success of Québec, Mr. Parizeau succeeded in creating a newfound confidence within the business world that was a driving force behind Québec Inc.,” Michel Leblanc said. “He was a great Montrealer, and we pay tribute to him today.”
