Shanghai

With some 23 million inhabitants, Shanghai is the largest city in China, its most important economic hub and a major decision-making, financial, and commercial centre. A large number of multinationals have established themselves in the city to take advantage of China’s explosive economic growth and the competitive advantages of its factors of production.

Hong Kong

Hong Kong is distinguished by its special autonomous status, which allows it to maintain a very liberal economic model while offering easy access to the rest of the Chinese market. Half of Hong Kong’s exports are destined to the Chinese market. These attributes attract regional corporate headquarters and multinational investments from around the world.

China also represents:

  • A GDP of $8.250 billion USD in 2012*
  • Estimated GDP growth of 7.8% in 2012 and 8.2% in 2013*
