A look back at the Luxembourg delegation’s visit to Montréal: A fruitful business exploration

The Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal (CCMM) and its team of international trade experts recently had the honor of hosting a Luxembourg delegation during an event dedicated to exploring business potential between Quebec and Luxembourg. Organized in partnership with the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, the event was a highlight in the economic exchanges between the two regions.

A promising economic dialogue
With one of the highest GDPs in Europe and a strategic location at the heart of the European Union, Luxembourg emerged as a prime partner for Quebec businesses seeking international opportunities. Through enriching discussions, roundtables, and B2B meetings, the event provided an overview of bilateral business opportunities, particularly in cutting-edge sectors such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, defense, and the aerospace industry.

A distinguished delegation
Led by the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, the economic mission included around 40 participants representing 16 Luxembourg companies and institutions. In Montréal, these representatives attended an economic forum inaugurated by influential figures such as Her Excellency Nicole Bintner, Ambassador of Luxembourg to Canada; Luc Decker, Consul General of Luxembourg in New York and Executive Director of the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Office (LTIO); and Carlo Thelen, Director General of the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce.

A key moment of the event was the sectoral panel, moderated by François Thill, Director of Cybersecurity at Luxembourg’s Ministry of Economy, which focused on cybersecurity, defense, and aerospace sectors. Another highlight was a dynamic exchange on opportunities and innovations in artificial intelligence. These discussions shed light on the strengths of both regions in these rapidly growing industries.

A milestone in economic relations
The event was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal and the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce. This agreement represents a significant step forward in economic relations between Luxembourg and Montréal, strengthening opportunities for long-term collaboration. This strategic partnership supports the efforts of both organizations to foster trade exchanges and connect their respective ecosystems.

Concrete benefits for participants
The exchanges organized during the event laid the groundwork for future collaborations between numerous Quebec and Luxembourg organizations. Participant testimonials highlighted the quality of discussions and meetings, emphasizing the positive impact of the event on their internationalization strategies. These enthusiastic reviews underscore the importance of such initiatives in stimulating business opportunities between the two regions.

A high-impact initiative
Hosting this Luxembourg delegation aligns with the chamber of commerce of metropolitain Montreal's mission to promote international trade and support Quebec businesses in their global development. This event not only strengthened ties between Quebec and Luxembourg but also underscored the importance of open and constructive economic dialogue in an ever-evolving global context.

Looking ahead to new opportunities
This event demonstrates the commitment of Quebec and Luxembourg economic players to continue building bridges between their respective markets. The CCMM encourages all organizations interested in international partnerships to stay tuned for upcoming events and initiatives.
