Every year since 1997, Les amis de la montagne has been inviting the community to take part in the Célébration des Tuques bleues. This benefit raises funds to support conservation programs for natural environments on Mount Royal.
The role of Les amis de la montagne
Since 1986, Les amis de la montagne’s mission has been to protect and promote Mount Royal. The mountain is a symbol of Montréal and one of its top tourist attractions. Not only does it contribute to the vitality of the economy, but it also plays an important role in residents’ quality of life.
Tuques Bleues 2020
The Célébration des Tuques bleues is one of the many activities organized by Les amis de la montagne to support its programs. The evening will feature a snowshoe trek up Mount Royal followed by festivities at the Mount Royal Chalet. More daring participants can compete in a race, while others can climb the mountain paths at their own pace, by lantern light.
For over ten years, the Chamber has proudly participated in the event to raise awareness within the business community about protecting Mount Royal. It is back this year for the 23rd edition, with Chamber president and CEO, Michel Leblanc, as the event’s honorary president.
A brand-new initiative for 2019-2020 is that participants are being encouraged to get their network involved in fundraising for the mountain.
“I am proud to be the honorary president for the Célébration des Tuques bleues for the tenth year. It is a flagship winter event for the city and a major initiative to recognize the importance of Mount Royal. Les amis de la montagne works hard to protect and promote this natural gem. The Chamber is pleased to support this initiative and to be part of an event that brings the community together.”
- Michel Leblanc, president and CEO, Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal
The event is taking place Thursday, February 13. Individuals and teams can register on the Tuques Bleues website.
