Les amis de la montagne have organized the 22nd Tuques Bleues Benefit Event with support from the business community. The goal of this event is to raise money in support of programs for the environmental conservation of Mount Royal.
Mount Royal: a jewel of our city
Mount Royal is an icon of Montréal and one of the most important destinations for the millions of tourists who visit the city each year. Not only does it contribute to the vitality of the economy, but it also plays a fundamental role in the citizens’ quality of life. Located in the heart of the city, it harbours an exceptional ecosystem that includes almost 700 types of plants, 184 species of birds and around 200,000 trees over 10 km² ¾ a true urban oasis!
Since 1986, Les amis de la montagne have made it their mission to protect and promote Mount Royal. The organization is also responsible for the services available to park users, as well as offering a variety of educational, cultural and outdoor programs. The revenue generated by these services is reinvested towards improving visitors’ experience and conserving Mount Royal.
The Tuques Bleues 2019
The Tuques Bleues Benefit Event is one of the many activities organized by Les amis de la montagne in order to support these programs. Around a hundred runners, as well as many people who climb the mountain on snowshoes, gather at this sporting and gastronomic event for a friendly competition. The challenge is followed by an evening of fine food and music at the Mount Royal Chalet.
For over ten years, the Chamber team, proud participant in the event, has worked to raise awareness in the business community regarding the protection of this important ecosystem. Our team will attend once again for the 22nd edition in 2019 with our President and CEO, Michel Leblanc, who is acting as Honorary Co-President alongside Robert Tellier, National Vice President, Group Retirement Services, Brokerage, at Manulife, the event’s presenter.
“It is with great pleasure that I have, once again, accepted the honorary co-presidency of the Tuques Bleues benefit. It is a flagship event that emphasizes the importance of protecting Mount Royal. This natural gem at the heart of our city greatly contributes to the quality of life of its residents. For over 30 years, Les amis de la montagne have worked tirelessly to promote and conserve this symbolic place. We must mobilize and support them in this important mission.”
The event will be held Thursday, February 21. Individuals or teams wishing to register can do so on Les amis de la montagne’s website.
