After the success of the Quebec economic mission to Hannover Messe last year, the Quebec partners are once again joining forces to participate in the world’s largest trade fair, held from March 31 to April 5, 2019.
Led for the first time by the Minister of Economy and Innovation, Mr. Pierre Fitzgibbon, the mission is being organized by his ministry in partnership with the Délégation générale du Québec à Munich, Investissement Québec and the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal.
Hannover Messe
A trade show leader since 1947, Hannover Messe is considered the world’s most important industrial technology event. With more than 5,000 exhibitors and 210,000 visitors from over 70 countries, the trade show is the perfect place to get a preview of the world’s latest industrial innovations. The event is also highly publicized thanks to the presence of nearly 2,500 journalists.
An experience not to be missed
In 2018, 70 members of the Quebec business community had the unique experience of participating in the mission to Hannover Messe. They took advantage of this one-of-a-kind opportunity to see the world premiere of the manufacturing sector’s latest developments. Building on last year’s success, the 2019 delegation will have twice as many participants, or approximately 150 people from different regions of the province.
“Our trip to Germany was extraordinary. We successfully achieved the three objectives we set for ourselves: to better understand the technology of the future, to identify a potential European partner looking to get established in Quebec, and to conceptualize the plans for our next plant. We were able to rethink our approach to the future plant and meet people who can help us design and build a structure that will be world-class as soon as it is built.”
- Louis Veilleux, President and CEO of the Mundial Group
“The mission was a great success for us. The visibility obtained at the Quebec pavilion significantly exceeded our expectations. The show also gave us the opportunity to visit other booths, meet several potential partners and get to know their products. We also appreciated the collaboration and camaraderie between delegation members. It was a rewarding and enjoyable work week.”
- Kyle O’Reilly, Director of Sales, VKS
The importance of digital transformation
The manufacturing sector is a pillar of our economy. It accounts for 90% of Quebec’s exports and generates more than 800,000 direct and indirect jobs. The sector is facing fierce global competition and a digital transformation that is already a reality in many industrialized countries and is shaking up business models.
To maintain its competitive position in the market, our manufacturing sector has no choice but to innovate and be more productive. This is the name of the game for local manufacturers looking to offer products with high added value, reduce their costs and production time, and maximize the skills of their employees.
In this regard, the mission to Hanover Messe 2019 is very relevant. Over the course of only a few days, it reveals the significance of the digital transformation challenge and makes it possible to better target the new technologies that are needed for improved productivity and competitiveness. For our entrepreneurs, it also represents a source of business and networking opportunities with international industry leaders and provides a chance to promote Quebec know-how. In summary, this is a meeting that is not to be missed.
