From November 11 to 15, 2019, Quebec companies will have the opportunity to participate in a smart and sustainable mobility trade mission to California. This mission, organized by the Ville de Montréal and the Chamber’s Acclr experts, in collaboration with Propulsion Québec and Jalon Montréal, will be held as part of the third CoMotion LA.
California’s mobility sector
California is a recognized leader in electric transportation. This state alone is the world’s second-largest market for electric cars after China.
California is also known for being the first state to introduce the zero-emission vehicle standard (ZEV) to encourage automakers to develop and market more electric vehicle models. The government’s objective is to have five million zero-emission vehicles on the road by 2030. This is an extremely promising market for Quebec companies specializing in this sector.
The strong political will to reduce GHG emissions and the high awareness of climate issues among the public and government agencies facilitate the deployment of electric vehicles in California.
Although California’s market is more mature than Quebec’s in terms of electric car penetration and public policy development, it’s a good indicator of potential changes in Quebec’s future. This is a must for Quebec and Montréal companies in the mobility sector seeking to develop their business in the American market.

CoMotion LA: a laboratory for innovation in mobility solutions
The trade mission will begin in the San Francisco area and then head to Silicon Valley to conduct industry tours of key companies in the area. It will end in Los Angeles for the CoMotion LA conference. This international conference is a laboratory for mobility innovation that aims to find solutions for a more connected and sustainable urban future.
Over two days participants will have the opportunity to reflect on innovations for mobility challenges by interacting with the sector’s key players through moderated panels, expert meetings and press conferences.
