Why Singapore?
As doing business in Singapore is convenient, it is known as the gateway to the Asian market. It is the third largest financial centre in the world, after London and New York, with some 1,200 financial institutions, including banking industry leaders, major insurance companies and Canadian retirement funds.
Singapore is one of the economies most open to trade and foreign investments. This business-friendly environment is particularly favourable for fintechs. Between January and October 2018, Singapore-based fintech companies recorded investments of around US$222 million.
An unparalleled opportunity
During the 2018 edition, the companies that participated in our Singapore mission were able to take advantage of targeted meetings with key players in the international financial and technology sectors:
“It was Squares Union’s second fintech mission with the Chamber, and it was a success. We had three objectives: find payment partners, set up a subsidiary in Singapore and meet with a major potential investor in Asia. It was a busy mission that allowed us to achieve our objectives.” – Freddy Noumeyi, Vice President, Operations at Squares Union
“It was a fantastic experience. One of Singapore's characteristics is its cultural mix between Asia and America. The most important thing was to be able to align our vision with this market’s. There is no doubt that the mission was a stepping stone to the successful expansion of our company.” – Louis Cléroux, President and Chief Executive Officer of Timechain
