Montréal, November 12, 2014 ‒ Aéroports de Montréal, the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal, Montréal International and Tourisme Montréal are pleased to have submitted their structuring project for the revitalization of Montréal to iseemtl.com.
This concerted, collaborative and targeted initiative involves supporting existing efforts by creating a task force, with a mission to step up efforts to better support direct flights and to ensure existing ones continue. This involves raising awareness in the business community to help increase passenger load factors on long-haul direct flights from Montréal.
“Aéroports de Montréal is pleased with the Montréal business community’s desire to offer concrete support to our development efforts in air service,” said James Cherry, President and CEO of Aéroports de Montréal. “Our efforts have paid off in recent years, because Montréal-Trudeau is the Canadian airport that has most improved its service. Montréal-Trudeau offers 130 direct destinations, including over 75 international destinations, compared with 30 a decade ago.”
“Attracting and reinforcing direct flights is essential for ensuring quality air service for the city,” said Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal. “For the business community, direct flights save time and money, are an incentive for internationalization and offer easier access to new markets.”
“Let’s think BIG for Montréal,” said Dominique Anglade, President and Chief Executive Officer of Montréal International. “Against a backdrop of a highly competitive global economy, this task force will help support Greater Montréal’s air offer for foreign investors, international organizations and strategic talent. It’s a question of the city’s international appeal and our prosperity as a society.”
“We are pleased to be involved in this unifying project that will definitely have a major economic impact on the city,” said Yves Lalumière, President and Chief Executive Officer of Tourisme Montréal. “Developing direct flights has long been one of Tourisme Montréal’s priorities. The impact of this effort will be an increase in conferences from the Northeastern U.S and more international tourism in Montréal, thanks to direct air access.”
