Employers must first register their employees to the platform. Employees will then receive an email inviting them to enter details of their commute via an anonymous online form. This anonymous data is then funnelled to dynamic dashboards and made available to employers and transportation organizations.

Employers can contact our call centre with any questions they may have. The Employee Commute Initiative team will also supply a step-by-step guide to lead employers through the process, along with a communications toolkit to help them provide accurate information to employees.

This data will allow employers to pinpoint commuting issues in order to optimize work arrangements (telecommuting, commute planning, improved scheduling, etc.).

The platform will analyze this data and add it to the dashboards for use by employers and partners of the initiative. Employers will access this data in real time to get a clearer understanding of their employees' commute.

Data provided to the project’s partners will be used to plan the supply of transportation services based on existing demand, in accordance with public health guidelines.

Absolutely! All businesses that want to improve their employees’ commute are invited to register, including those looking to optimize their post-COVID work arrangements and companies with challenging commute issues. Telecommuting is only one of the factors that will be considered under this project.

After speaking with one of our call centre advisors, employers will need to take 20 minutes to complete their Employer Profile and register their employees. They will also be asked to appoint an internal manager, who will be in charge of the project during the eight-week period. In addition to the employer's guide, call centre advisors will be available to provide further support.

Employers who sign on to the project will be asked to forward the necessary information to their employees and encourage them to submit their data. A communications toolkit will also be made available to employers.

We recommend that employers and/or internal managers consult their dashboards on a regular basis.

Employees of participating companies must commit to providing their commute plans. To make sure the platform works effectively, employees will need to fill out their form every seven days, in advance of the following week. This should take three to five minutes at most.

By participating in the project, employers will have access to their employees’ travel plans, which could help them implement measures to improve employee commutes. Employers will also be able to fine-tune the supply of group and active transportation options, boosting their employees’ safety while taking health guidelines into account.

The Employee Commute Initiative will enable participants to better understand their own needs, driving the development of mobility initiatives to enhance public transit options. It facilitates collaboration between transportation organizations and employers, in the aim of improving employee mobility.

The platform does not store any personal information such as employee email addresses or complete street addresses. Once registered, each employee is assigned a number code and their location is identified solely by their general geographic area.

The program only records the mode of transportation based on the time of day, and project partners will not be able to associate individual employees with their travel itineraries. Only employers will have access to employee information.
