MTL à Paris: a trade, cultural and tourism mission to showcase the city

Montréal, February 11, 2016 – From March 6 to 10, Tourisme Montréal, the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal and its team of international trade experts, the World Trade Centre Montréal, will fly to Paris for the second edition of MTL à Paris week. The mission, presented by Air Canada, is designed to create sustainable business opportunities between companies in different sectors of the two cities. It also represents a unique opportunity to showcase Montréal internationally by presenting its assets; that is, its creative industries, its rich and diverse culture, its tourism potential and the businesses that contribute to the city’s flourishing economy.

Participating businesses will have the opportunity to take part in a number of networking activities, including one-on-one meetings with potential customers and partners, organized jointly with the Chambre de commerce et d’industrie de la région Paris Île-de-France, a regional chamber of commerce. The goal of these activities is to create lasting business ties between the two cities and help participating companies export their products and services to the French market. A conference entitled “The Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement: Answers to Your Questions” will be presented by Pierre Marc Johnson, former Quebec premier and legal counsel at Lavery Lawyers. The program also features other opportunities, such as tourism meetings and the MTLMoments evening to showcase Montréal’s tourism offer, particularly its artistic and creative appeal that has garnered it worldwide recognition.

“Local businesses are very active in the agri-food, IT and creative sectors, areas in which Paris holds enormous potential,” said Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montreal. “MTL à Paris is an incredible platform for promoting Montréal’s expertise and products on the French market and positioning the city once the Canada-European Union agreement takes effect.”

“We want to send a strong message: Montréal is an exceptional place to do business and to innovate,” said Yves Lalumière, President and CEO of Tourisme Montréal. “MTL à Paris is a unique opportunity to invite French citizens to visit our city. With its 375th anniversary around the corner, Montréal holds strong tourism potential. The number of French tourists travelling to Québec has increased almost 15% in the past five years. This is a priority market for Tourisme Montréal.”
